Happening this week ... and more

Come all ye faithful in your caring compassion for others in dire need this winter!
Raising funds for Southington Community Services are
Rep Rob Sampson (l) and Sen Joe Markley (r) at Walmart
in November 2012

On Thursday, December 15th, State Senator Joe Markley will once again be ringing the Bells at the Salvation Army's famous red kettle at Walmart on Queen Street in Southington during the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 pm. Joining Senator Joe this year will be State Assemblyman-elect John Fusco. Stop by, meet Joe and John and help Southington Community Services with your generous donation.

All funds raised during that two-hour period will be generously matched by Walmart as in the past for the benefit of Southington Social Services ,,, providing food for the hungry through its Food Pantry program, clothing for those in need, shelter for the homeless and many other forms of assistance to those who are living in dire economic circumstances. All these needs are met solely by your donations to Southington Community Services and the tireless work of its many volunteers.

A Gift to the Community In the Spirit of Loving Joy and Peace . . .

Sunday, Dec. 18th

Southington, families and those nearby may enjoy an entertaining live musical production of “The Nativity Story: The Birth of Jesus Christ, King and Savior”. Admission is free. All are welcome and it takes place at the Church of Saint Dominic at 1050 Flanders Road this Sunday evening, December 18th at 6:00 pm.

This seventh annual production is a live enactment of the carefully scripted verses of the Gospels of Luke and Mark with the live instrumental and vocal musical accompaniment performed by the H.I.S. Contemporary Music Group of St. Dominic Church and actors.
Nativity Story - Live Musical Production at St. Dominic
The enacted scenes and narrations are alternately projected on two large screens in the church as the play tells the story of the nativity and transitions into caroling with the participation of the audience and full company.  Credits are omitted since the production is a gift to the community of those who scripted, produced, directed and have taken part in this home grown but very spirited presentation.

Merry
Christmas
