An exciting note from John Myers,
Hard to believe – but we are only days away from Southington’s Place To Be … … … That’s right – the 12th Annual Sloper Plunge
This Saturday, January 21st - 1 p.m. in beautiful, refreshing Sloper Pond!
First a few photos of past years of this zany, utterly crazy, refreshingly cool annual event that awakens Southington to the genuine realities of winter while helping the Southington Cheshire Community YMCA help kids go to Camp Sloper in the summer.
I'm telling you, it's the craziest,
zaniest, wildest fun you're apt to have this entire winter.
You can't miss this event, whether you donate, observe from the lakeside, or jump in with your favorite costume or other gear.

Now, a few words from Executive Director, John Myers of the YMCA:

Now, a few words from Executive Director, John Myers of the YMCA:
"Thanks to all of you who have made a pledge or donation. As mentioned before – 100% of the funds raised through the Sloper Plunge go to help send a whole bunch of local kids to YMCA Camp Sloper this summer. I’d like to share my impact story again to help ‘keep it real’.
A Moving Story . . .
Last year, tragically a single mom with two children passed away leaving the single grandfather to care for the two children. (Who can even imagine?!) Because of the wonderful generosity of our community and friends of the Y, we were able to provide both children with a summer experience at YMCA Camp Sloper… A summer that provided an incredible peace of mind for the grandfather. A summer where two children were surrounded by over 170 extremely talented role models. A summer where two children got to participate in activities filled with fun, adventure and tradition. A summer where two children were surrounded by love in a nurturing environment. A summer where lasting friendships were made. A summer filled with hope!
We are still accepting pledges and donations. Three easy ways to donate:
· Email me (John Myers at jmyers@sccymca.org.) with the amount of your gift and you can send a check made out to the Southington Community YMCA to 29 High Street, Southington, Ct 06489 c/o John Myers.
· You can pledge on-line this year at: https://reg.southington-cheshireymca.org/OnlineEdge/fundraising.html -
o Please put down my name (or Moi’s, Catherine’s or Jack’s) down on the plunger line and send me an email if you do this on line so I can get an accurate tally!
· You can pledge with your right hand in the air promising to pay! And I know where you live!
As an extra incentive, Moi and I will be matching up to $1,500 in pledges and donations to the Sloper Plunge"
Finally, the event is spectator friendly (although parking can be a little challenge). Check out last year’s Sloper Plunge https://youtu.be/zlSkn89MAUI
Many thanks in advance for your support!
Keep smiling!
